Four teams (Gonzaga, Texas Tech, Purdue and Virginia) punched their tickets last night to the regional finals of the NCAA Tournament. In the NBA, the Denver Nuggets certainly expected problems in handling James Harden (38 points), but probably didn’t anticipate being shut down by a tough Rockets defense. Houston may have played its most complete game of the season last night in beating Denver, 112-85. It was not the kind of effort the Nuggets wanted as they pursue the Golden State Warriors for the No. 1 seed in the West. They’ll have a chance to turn it around tonight as the Nuggets (50-24; No. 4 in Dunkel’s power rankings) visit the Oklahoma City Thunder (44-31; No. 11).
