While perhaps the most-overlooked series of the NBA playoffs, the Denver Nuggets and Portland Trail Blazers did give us the best game of the postseason so far when they took Game 3 to four overtimes before the Blazers came away with a 140-137 victory. The NHL series between the St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars has been an equally tight affair. But the Stars were able to break through with a 2-1 win in Game 5 on the Blues home ice that put Dallas up 3-2 in the series and set up a clinching opportunity today at the Stars’ American Airlines Center. The Chicago Cubs (18-12) survived another rough outing from Yu Darvish yesterday thanks to Javier Baez’ HR in the eighth inning that was the difference in a 6-5 win over the St. Louis Cardinals (20-13). The Cubbies have a chance for the series sweep tonight in ESPN’s primetime game as they send Jose Quintana (3-1, 3.48) to the mound against the Cards’ Adam Wainwright (3-2, 3.73).
