Portland’s hope that its high-powered backcourt of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum could match up with Golden State’s Steph Curry and Klay Thompson did not pan out in Game 1 of their Western Conference series.  Lillard and McCollum combined for only 36 points on 11-of-31 shooting (3-of-10 on three-pointers) while Curry had 36 points alone in a 116-94 victory for the Warriors.  The Trail Blazers will try to regroup tonight as they face Game 2 at Oracle Arena. The Carolina Hurricanes shook up the Eastern Conference postseason when they knocked off the defending-champion Washington Capitals and followed that up with a sweep of the NY Islanders. But the Canes have been frustrated in the Eastern Conference Final by Brad Marchand and the Boston Bruins, who stand one win away from reaching the Stanley Cup Final. The Minnesota Twins (27-15) have continued the strong start to their season and look to add a big bat to the lineup with the return of Miguel Sano from the IL as they open a seven-game road trip tonight in Seattle against the Mariners (22-23).
