The Milwaukee Brewers’ playoff hopes were dealt a devastating blow last night when Christian Yelich broke his knee cap after following a pitch off his leg. The injury ends the season for Yelich, who was having another MVP-caliber campaign (.329, 44 HRs, 97 RBI). It also leaves the Brewers without their team leader at a critical time in the pennant chase as they trail the Cubs by only a game for the final spot in the NL wild card. Craig Counsell’s team will try to pick up the pieces beginning tonight as they wrap up a series against the Marlins in Miami. Zach Davies (9-7, 3.69) gets the start for the Brew Crew, while Miami counters with Pablo Lopez (5-8, 4.75). To get Dunkel’s pick for this game and the full MLB schedule, click HERE.
