Week 3 of the college football schedule kicks off tonight with three games, including an offensive showdown between Mike Leach’s Washington State Cougars (2-0; No. 18 in Dunkel Index) and Dana Holgorsen’s Houston Cougars (1-1; No. 75 in Dunkel Index). The two coached together at Valdosa State and later at Texas Tech, and both bring an “Air Raid” philosophy to the field. Washington State’s has been more successful in the early going behind QB Anthony Gordon, who has thrown for nine TDs in wins over New Mexico State and Northern Colorado. But Houston has its own star at QB in D’Eriq King, who ran for 103 yards and threw for 167 more in an opening night loss to Oklahoma. Overall, the Brew Crew have won seven straight as they open up a big NL Central series tonight against the Cardinals in St. Louis. Adrian Houser (6-5, 3.59) will get the start for Milwaukee (78-68), while Adam Wainwright (11-9, 4.16) takes the hill for St. Louis (82-64).
