The Toronto Blue Jays (60-91) haven’t had much to get excited about this season, but last night in Baltimore they enjoyed a very rare moment in baseball history when Cavan Biggio joined his father, Hall-of-Famer Craig, as just the second father-son combo in MLB history to hit for the cycle. Cavan homered in the third, singled in the sixth, doubled in the eighth and tripled in the ninth to match the accomplishment his father achieved in Colorado in 2002. The only other father-son duo to hit for the cycle was Gary Ward (1980) and his son, Daryle (2004). The added bonus was a win for the Blue Jays over the Orioles, 8-5. Those two teams will continue their series tonight at Camden Yards with Clay Buchholz (1-5, 5.63) taking the mound for Toronto against the O’s Dylan Bundy (6-14, 4.99). The Jacksonville Jaguars were rocked in Week 1 when their prized free-agent QB Nick Foles went down for an extended period with a broken clavicle. But the Jags look to have hit on a solid replacement in rookie Gardner Minshew out of Washington State. Minshew looked like a veteran in leading Jacksonville to a late TD against Houston on Sunday but came up short when the Jags tried to go for the win with a two-point conversion and came up just short. Now 0-2 on the season, Jacksonville will try to break through with a win on Thursday night as they host the Tennessee Titans (1-1). And Week 4 of the college football schedule kicks off on Thursday with this year’s weeknight regular, the Houston Cougars (1-2), hitting the road to face the Tulane Green Wave (2-1). To get Dunkel’s pick for this game and the full FBS and FCS schedule for Week 4, click HERE.
