The MLB wild cards wrapped up last night with the Tampa Bay Rays pulling off the upset against the Oakland A’s, 5-1. The divisional round begins tonight with two NL matchups capped off by the Washington Nationals facing the LA Dodgers. Washington advanced with a thrilling, come-from-behind 4-3 win over Milwaukee in the NL Wild Card. But their reward to is head out west and face the NL’s best in the Dodgers (106-56, No. 2 overall in the Dunkel Index). Week 5 of the NFL schedule kicks off tonight with a big NFC West showdown between the LA Rams (3-1, No. 3 in the Dunkel Index) and Seattle Seahawks (3-1, No. 13). The Rams are trying to bounce back from an ugly 55-40 home loss to Tampa Bay as the usually reliable defense was torched by Jameis Winston for 385 yards and 4 TDs. The college football schedule for Week 6 also gets started tonight with a pair of games, including an American Athletic Conference matchup between the Temple Owls (3-1, No. 59 in the Dunkel Index) and East Carolina Pirates (3-2, No. 114). Both teams come in riding high as the Owls knocked off Georgia Tech at home, 24-2, while the Pirates upset Old Dominion on the road, 24-21. Kick off is 8:00 p.m. EST at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. The NHL regular season started last night with the Washington Capitals upsetting the defending-champion St. Louis Blues, 3-2, in overtime. Eight games are on the schedule for tonight, including the Winnipeg Jets opening up in New York against a Rangers team that is looking to get back to the playoffs after missing the last two campaigns.
