The MLB postseason got underway yesterday with the Cardinals and Dodgers both taking the first game of their divisional series. The AL will join the fray today, including the NY Yankees (103-59, No. 3 in the Dunkel Index) in pursuit of their record 28th World Series crown as they open up yet another divisional series against the Minnesota Twins (101-61, No. 4). This will be New York’s fifth ALDS against Minnesota with the Yankees taking the previous four in 2003, 2004, 2008 and 2009. Week 6 of the college football schedule continues with three games on tap, including the UCF Knights (4-1, No. 15 in the Dunkel Index) facing the Cincinnati Bearcats (3-1, No. 40) in an American Athletic Conference matchup. The last time UCF came to Cincinnati in 2017, the Knights scored every time they had the ball in a storm-shortened 51-23 contest. Luke Fickell’s team is looking for a different outcome tonight following his Bearcats 52-14 win at Marshall last week. Kick off is 8:00 p.m. at Nippert Stadium. The first week of the NHL regular season continues with five games on the schedule, including the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to follow up their win in the season opener as they travel to Columbus to face the Blue Jackets. Mike Babcock’s team got two goals from Auston Matthews in a four-goal second period to push past Ottawa, 5-3, on Wednesday. This will be the first game of the season for the Blue Jackets.
