With a new head coach and quarterback taking over, Ohio State fans were uncertain what kind of team they’d see this year. Five games into the season and there’s a feeling that this could be one of the best Buckeyes teams ever. Behind coach Ryan Day and QB Justin Fields, Ohio State (5-0, No. 3 in the Dunkel Index) has steamrolled through the competition, including last week’s 48-7 rout in front of a Nebraska crowd that was thinking upset. For his part, Fields has exhibited no drop off from last year’s sensation, Dwayne Haskins, and is the only QB in the nation to pass and run for a TD in all five games. But if there’s been a nemesis to the Buckeyes in the past, it’s been Michigan State (4-1, No. 28). The Spartans spoiled title runs for OSU in 2013 and 2015, and have their sights set on another upset tonight in Columbus. Kick off is 7:30 p.m. EST at the Horseshoe. The Houston Astros armed themselves for the postseason with a three-headed monster by the names of Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole and Zack Greinke. Yesterday, it was Verlander who shut down the Tampa Bay Rays in the first game of their ALDS matchup, 6-2. Tonight it’s Cole (20-5, 2.50) who will take the mound for Houston as he faces Tampa Bay’s Blake Snell (6-8, 4.29). First pitch is 9:07 p.m. at Minute Maid Park. The Kings will be making their season debut under new head coach Todd McLellan after finishing last in the Western Conference last season. Face off is 10:05 p.m. EST at Rogers Place. Week 17 of the CFL wraps up with three games on the schedule finishing with the Toronto Argonauts (2-11) traveling to BC to face the Lions (4-10). Kick off is 10:00 p.m. EST at BC Place. To get Dunkel’s pick for this game and the full CFL schedule, click HERE.
