The LA Lakers (49-13) had little trouble last week handling two of their expected rivals for this year’s NBA title as they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks and LA Clippers in back-to-back games. In doing so, LeBron James also showed that he deserves serious MVP consideration as he outplayed both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kawhi Leonard. James and the Lakers won’t face the same challenge tonight and need to avoid a letdown as they face the Brooklyn Nets (29-34) and their new head coach Jacque Vaughn, who has replaced the recently-departed Kenny Atkinson. Tip off is 10:30 p.m. EST at Staples Center. To get Dunkel’s pick for this game and the full NBA schedule, click HERE.

Conference tournaments continue at the college level with a few championships to be decided tonight, including the Horizon League where the surprising Illinois-Chicago Flames (18-16) will face the Northern Kentucky Norse (22-9). The Flames advanced following last night’s big upset over Wright State, 73-56, while the Norse rolled in the second half to an 80-69 victory over Wisconsin-Green Bay. Tip off is 7:00 p.m. EST at Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis. To get Dunkel’s pick for this game and the full NCAA Basketball schedule, click HERE.

And on the ice, the Carolina Hurricanes (37-25-5) have bounced back from a four-game losing streak with impressive road wins over the NY Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins. But they need to avoid looking past the last-place Detroit Red Wings (17-48-5), who caught the Tampa Bay Lightning off guard in a 5-4 shootout win on Sunday. Face off is 7:30 p.m. at Little Caesar’s Arena. To get Dunkel’s pick for this game and the full NHL schedule, click HERE.
