Something Fishy

The pace of play in MLB has been impacted in recent years by the number of pitching changes managers are making. That has only multiplied in September with all the minor league call-ups and got to the point yesterday in the Marlins-Phillies game where Miami manager Don Mattingly said something had to be done. The contest was just the fourth in MLB history where no pitcher went more than 2 innings and the first non-DH game since 1900 where no pitcher made a plate appearance. For all the masterminding, pitching didn’t seem to be at a premium in a 6-4 Marlins win.
